Long-term vacancies

We are looking to recruit people to join our Camphill community and live in a Shared Lives household.

Our homes are a warm and welcoming environment, where we maintain a strong rhythm with shared regular meal times, a space for culture, spirituality and learning, as well as fulfilling the practical needs that are required to maintain a healthy environment.

We are looking for somebody to join us for at least a year. Those interested in joining do not need any previous experience of, or education in, social care or learning disabilities, although enthusiasm to work and live alongside people with different abilities is essential. You will attend a Foundation Course which explores community life and the teachings of anthroposophy, which inspires our community. You will also receive all necessary social care training by our care provider.

We operate an income sharing fund based on the principles laid out by Rudolf Steiner which all co-workers are expected to join when they come to the community. Your financial needs will be met by this fund, in accordance with a budget agreed by your neighbours. Living in a Camphill community household is a vocation, rather than a job.

Vacancy One

Community Gardener

We are looking for a gardener for our community. We hope to find someone who wants to practice and develop biodynamic gardening and wants to live and work as a member of our Camphill community.

The land that Esk Valley Camphill community owns, where we are growing vegetables, herbs and fruit, is five acres and is located in Ainthorpe, close to Botton village in the North Yorkshire Moors.

On the same premises is the herb workshop and one of our Shared Lives houses, Homefield. The garden is a workshop where members of our community who have learning disabilities work and grow food for our houses. We are Demeter certified and practice biodynamic methods.

We are looking for someone who has experience in vegetable growing and a desire to explore biodynamic gardening, to join our team. You will be involved in working daily on the garden, growing vegetables, practicing biodynamic gardening and working with people with learning disabilities. You will also be a part of our wider Camphill community.

We can only offer the vacancy to somebody that does not need a visa to live and work in the UK.
