Help us build a community space for our land workers.

At Esk Valley Camphill Community, our land work team provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities to develop practical skills, build confidence and enjoy meaningful work through horticulture, conservation and caring for the land. The team makes a valued contribution to our community every day.

To support this work for the future, we are seeking £103,415 to transform our former stable building into a warm, accessible and versatile base for the land working team.

The project will create:

• A well-insulated building with a new roof and skylights.
• An energy-efficient heat pump and heating system, providing a comfortable space in every season.
• Two toilets, including one fully accessible toilet.
• A fitted kitchenette for refreshments and shared breaks.
• A flexible multi-purpose room that can be used for indoor gardening activities, meetings, training and learning.
• New plumbing, electrical wiring, windows, doors and flooring, ensuring the building is safe, sustainable and fit for the future..

Project Cost

The total cost of the project is £103,415, covering:

• Insulation and cavity walls – £1,615
• Structural works – £2,000
• Toilets and kitchenette – £20,000
• New roof with skylights – £32,800
• Heat pump and radiators – £25,000
• Plumbing and drainage – £4,000
• Electrical rewiring – £8,000
• New doors and windows – £6,000
• Flooring – £4,000

Camphill Shared Lives Communities (CSLC), a Community Benefit Society, was established in 2016 as the regulatory body to oversee and support the Esk Valley Camphill Community.  CSLC’s purpose is to serve the broader interests of the community:  all work, income generated, funds raised, or any profits must be used to support EVCC for the benefit of the (wider) community. CSLC has Charitable Exemption with HMRC (Charity no EW41352), which enables it to fundraise as a charity, including eligibility for Gift Aid donations from individuals.
