Esk Seeds and Plants
The name we use is Esk Seeds and Plants. As you might know, the word Esk is derived from the British word isca meaning “water” and is the name of the river flowing near our community.
We are collecting seeds from plants grown in our garden at Homefield and in a greenhouse at Stormy Hall. We process and sort these seeds in the old mill room next to Camphill Bakehouse, our bakery.
Working with Biodynamic and Organic Growers in the UK, who supply us, we are building up a good stock of seeds. Complemented by imported seeds from Europe, we are already able to offer over 50 varieties of seeds for sale in our online shop.
Our aim is to grow and maintain as many plant varieties in the UK as possible. Through this process, varieties will be more adapted to local conditions and better suited for UK growing conditions.
